The track and field program has begun preseason training with a focus on building strength, speed, and consistency ahead of the official start of the season on February 23, 2026.
Preseason practices are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 3:30 p.m. in the auxiliary gym. The training locations vary by event group. Sprinters, jumpers, and throwers practice at the Coronado Track and Field facilities, while distance runners train off campus two to three times per week and one to two times per week on the track.
According to Head Coach Lisa Rainsberger, “Preseason is designed to help athletes transition back into training after time away from the sport, and for coaches and athletes to get to know each other.” Coach Lisa emphasizes consistent attendance and effort as the foundation for improvement. Showing up regularly, staying patient, and maintaining a positive attitude are key priorities during preseason training.
The team expects 80-90 athletes this season, including many new ninth graders. With several talented seniors graduating last year, coaches are looking forward to the development of younger athletes. Those who participate in preseason are expected to have a stronger start and a longer racing season.
