The results for the 2027-2028 Student Council election are in. Coronado’s new class president is Bella Webb, class of 2027, and Bryce McDonald, class of 2027, is the vice president. The class representatives for seniors are Carter McKnight and Kayla Fleming, juniors Elsie Walker and Sophie Salyers, and sophomores Laney Bushman and Emily Cooper. The Social & Morale team, which has only been held by seniors in previous years, has changed this year. The seniors include Cari Powell, Class of 2027, and Eva Oursler, Class of 2027. The junior is Tully Thomas, Class of 2028, and the sophomore is Amelia Arnell, Class of 2029. For the cabinet, Ava Hibbits, Class of 2028, is running publicity, Alexi Arnell, class of 2027 is in charge of communications, Olivia Josten, Class of 2027, is treasurer and records, and finally, Saturn Phelps, Class of 2027, is head of community outreach. They will officially be taking office in room 4 in the basement of the main building, on the first day of the new school year. Congratulations to the new council.

Current junior representative Bella Webb’s first plan as president is to make weekly Google forms for future ready classes on Mondays. These forms will have real statistics on what the student body needs and wants. The goal is to send out the first form during the last week of summer. Bella said she ran for president because she “wants to be the conduit to have people’s voices heard” and she “wanted to make an impact on the school and spread kindness.”
The Student Council is responsible for planning the many events at Coronado such as Prom, Homecoming, and Harvest of Love. The president and representatives present and vote on ideas for themes, locations, and more. While they are doing all of this, they are consulting the treasury to see if it is within budget. Afterwards, the idea is sent off to publicity and communications, who advertise events. Community outreach and the Social & Morale team get people hyped for the events.
Just as previous councils have, this new council will need to prove themselves. However that should be a simple task as these candidates show promise and seem to have big ideas to bring to Coronado.
