The Coronado Theater Department presents the Night of One Acts this spring. The three student-led one acts to be performed include “The Actor Games,” which was featured in the D11 One Act Competition, “Order Up!” directed by the Acting Techniques class, and “Coffee Grounds and Allergies” which was performed at this year’s Thescon.
Due to Thescon’s One Act Competition, Advanced Acting started preparing their one acts at the start start of the second semester, selecting “The Actor Games,” a parody of “The Hunger Games,” directed by Abigail Esparza Class of 2026, along with “Coffee Grounds and Allergies,” which was written by Kaitlyn Deyoe, Class of 2026, and directed by Abigail Esparza.
Kaitlyn stated that she is “Grateful for my work to be put on stage.” While she will not be participating in the show, she will be in the audience cheering on her fellow actors. Preparation for the “Acting Techniques Show” started later in the semester with researching which act they wanted to perform. They eventually settled on “Order Up!”
Both classes spend their class time rehearsing in order to curate a clean show. This practice will help with advanced acting using the notes from their competition and acting techniques Ms. Glidewell provides. Taytum Pinyerd, Class of 2026, and host of “The Actor Games,” added that, “Tech has also been a huge part of our production. They have put together props, costumes and sound effects that have truly just taken the show to the next level.”

The show will be performed on February 25, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. in the Coronado auditorium. Tickets are three dollars and will be sold at the door. Students can sign up for Acting Techniques next year if they would like to participate in The One Acts, whether it be onstage reciting lines or backstage working the props and lights. Ms. Glidewell notes that “One Acts are a great way to showcase the Coronado Theater Department.”
If you need a date night idea, you can get your tickets, find your seats and cheer on your fellow students.
